Step 6

Step 6 is probably the most overlooked step of the assignment in my eyes. In my eyes, the majority of students are focusing on Step 3 to 5 to ensure they are accurately entering their annual reports in, writing out their KCQs and learning about their company but when it comes time to Step 6, they are only brushing over the feedback as it’s a requirement. The concept has been missed. To me, step 6 gives us an opportunity to see how others are doing the same assignment with different companies. It allows us to pick up formatting that looks good in the excel spreadsheet or shows us how much detail we should be putting into our own work.

I thoroughly enjoyed step 6 as it allowed me to look at other peoples work and give them hints and tips that I’ve found useful that may relate to them. It has allowed me to see where similarities are and if I’m struggling, I can pull some ideas out of other peoples works then elaborate or shape it to fit into my company. Feedback is an essential part of life a because if you don’t know what is wrong, you’ll never be able to fix it.

Some feedback I received from Evan I found useful as he indicated that there wasn’t much information about annual reports. He indicated a trend he found whilst looking at the annual reports which then posed a question to me. This gave me something to investigate and see if there was a trend that needed to be elaborated on or not.

Below you will find the feedback I have received and given to others. If there are missing rows, it is due to no feedback being provided.

Step 1 KCQsYour KCQs were easy to locate on your blog and reading through, I was captivated. The one strong point which I personally related to was where you talk about doing courses for work but never fully understanding them once completed. It seems that this is the trend in workplaces. They will give someone a unit or course they must complete just to tick the box however do they really care if you understand it? The answer is probably not. You have identified from previous experiences how leaving things to the last minute (much like im doing now) can result    in poor performance. The key thing here is time management, and as you said, ensuring you have enough time to walk away and come back to whatever you’re doing will allow you to better understand what you are learnng.
Step 2 Introductory words in Description box Photo and description Link to your blog/Set up blogYour introduction on the moodle page links your blog which    allows for easy access so people can keep in touch throughout the many platforms available. I was unable to see a picture for your moodle profile but if there is a photo there, it allows for people to put a face to a name (which would be a nice touch rather than just knowing peoples names). Your blog was probably one of the best I’ve seen. The layout was simple enough to follow and everything was labelled. I    was able to find all the information relating to the assignment very easily due to your headings. When you tag something, I  see that it goes into the relevant page heading which is  actually a really smart thing to do. This allows people to know exactly what they are looking at and which part of the assignment it is relating too.   Overall your blog is coming along nicely, and I will continue to check in every now and then just to see what new info has been uploaded. Keep up the good work!
Step 3 Background information on company Comments/KCQs Comments on other’s blogsLooking into the history of the company, you have given everyone a summary which I believe is adequate. The length isn’t overly long which can bore some people and it isn’t too short where people don’t know anything about your company/ The video at the end allows for people to watch and listen to learn about the company which I believe is useful (especially considering how much reading we must do for this assignment). You are actively engaging with other students on their blogs and engaging with their posts. Your comments are always positive, and you relate to what the writer has written. Based on the interactions I have seen, I know you will have no difficulty with the ‘Online communication’ aspect of the unit. Keep up the good work!
Step 4 Input company’s financial statements    I was unable to find your company spreadsheet sorry. You did however post your concerns whilst actioning step 4. I was relating to everything you stated about not knowing what you were doing. There are still some things I see in my annual reports which I have no idea what they mean. The positive from this is you will have multiple KCQs for assignment 2.
Step 5 KCQsReading through your KCQs, each had a good point and I can understand why these may have raised a couple of questions. Each KCQ is labelled under its own tab which allows the us (as the reader) to know exactly what your concept or question is. A little hint I got given was using subheadings allows for the marker to know that what you are about to write is regarding the above heading. As each step in the assignment has little questions hidden in each section, using the subheadings will allow the marker to know you are replying to that question. I believe you have hit this benchmark with splitting your KCQs into individual blog posts. Great work!
Step 6 Individual feedback with othersThe level of feedback you have been giving to others has been phenomenal. Not only do you identify where people can improve but you also congratulate on their strong points. This allows the people receiving the feedback to know where they are doing well and what they can improve on. The thing about giving feedback to others is it must be constructive otherwise you are just criticising. You are in no way criticising anyone but instead providing quality feedback. Great work!
Overall ASS#1Overall for your draft, you have shown a great wealth of knowledge regarding your company and given detailed explanations into your KCQs. I believe you are tracking towards receiving a great mark for this assignment so keep up the good work!

Step 3 Background information on company Comments/KCQs Comments on other’s blogsYour blog was set out in a relaxed format which was easy to navigate. You have provided a great amount detail of insight into your company’s history. You personalised the introduction with your honest feelings regarding being assigned your company. Reading through the information provided, it is evident that you have spent a lot of time collating information which has given you a better understanding of your company. Great work on your explanation of IFRS 16 – Leases. When you mentioned this, I had no idea what you were talking about however your explanation gave great detail and now I think I have somewhat of an understanding as well. Not all KCQs finish with no further questions. Now that you have identified your interest into the impacts of the IFRS 16, I believe you will spend additional time investigating into how it will affect your company. Nice touch on adding relevant news articles to your blog too. It allows a reader to open up additional information if it catches their attention.
Step 4 Input company’s financial statementsFormatting of the spreadsheet made it easy to read. There were breaks in the layout which was nice on the eyes as it wasn’t a cluster of numbers all squished together. The bolding of totals made it easy to identify which were the ‘important’ figures in your spreadsheet. You have also used the outlines function to outline the boxes of important figures. This is what I was going to do on my spreadsheet but ran out of time. Looking at how much of a difference it makes, I will have to implement it in my workings! Overall, I would say good work.
Overall ASS#1Overall, from what I have seen, I would say keep up the good work. You have shown a great level of detail when writing about your company and identified areas of interest moving forward.

Step 3 Background information on company Comments/KCQs Comments on other’s blogsLooking at your blog, it has a very nice set up which is easy to follow. You have pre-planned a page for assessment 2 which is smart thinking. The company section has background information which is short and concise. This is good as its not overly wordy and allows for the reader to gain an insight to your company without reading an essay. The layout of assessment 1 is easy to follow. I can see that you have put a lot of time into it and you should be proud. Only thing I would suggest is under your first post, the headings (Study Guide Introduction, Chapter 1, etc) are the same font size as your writings. Just for ease when reading, it may benefit to increase the font size, so people know they have concluded the previous section. Last suggestion would be the colouring of the text for your headings. Studiosity Feedback being a light grey against a light magenta made it a little hard to read at first. Other than that, very good blog with a great layout!
Step 4 Input company’s financial statements    Looking through your company’s spreadsheet there was one thing I noticed straight away. Your figures are all formatted the same way, so it made it a tad hard to see what the important figures were (such as totals, etc). What I would suggest is where you have a bold title in your items list, bold the numbers as well to signify the importance of them. Other than that, your spreadsheet looks good. I personally would go over with the format painter and put the lines into a blue-white pattern again but that’s just me. Great work on your spreadsheet.
Step 5 KCQsReading through your step 5, I found it interesting that we both didn’t have a full grasp on the ‘GAAP’. You were very honest with your chapter 2 reflection indicating that you aren’t fully understanding everything but I believe you are in a great position to get your ‘hands on learning’ fix at work. You are set up in a great position as you will have the ability to be shown the theory side of our learning in motion so keep asking questions. Chapter 3’s reflection was also an honest one and that was refreshing. Most students will write things to sound good or try and write about what they think our lecturers wish to hear. You kept it honest and indicated that you are still feeling overwhelmed. One thing that I’ve done to assist me in reading the study guides is print them all out, then got a binder and put all the chapters together to make a book. I can now read sections of each chapter at work without having to lug my laptop around or spend my whole day staring at a computer screen.
Step 6 Individual feedback with othersI believe this is more an individual thing that you will need to reflect on as each student will take varying levels of feedback from this step.
Overall ASS#1Overall, from what I have seen so far is great! You are explaining yourself with great detail and relating things to your personal experiences. Your blog is easy to follow, and you have set a foundation for a great platform. Keep up the good work.

Step 1 KCQsYour KCQs were along the same lines I had. Coming into the unit I had no idea what to expect. Being a lone ranger is something I did all through school and it worked well for me however just like you, I am realising this isn’t the place or time to be a lone ranger. Your KCQs in my eyes hit all the benchmarks as to what’s required. What’s the KCQ?DefinitionPersonal Interpretation (relate to real world) / Explanation Use this formula and you should cover the basis of a KCQ.
Step 2 Introductory words in Description box Photo and description Link to your blog/Set up blogYour introduction on both moodle and your blog were good. You gave insight into your life and why you chose to do property. If you ask me, that’s a smart choice! Property is unavoidable. Property is everywhere we look, whether its physical or intellectual, property cannot be avoided.

Your blog is set out nicely however the only suggestion would have is to have a home button which takes you back to your main page (rather than people having to use the back button on their computer). Other than that, your blog is simple to follow and is filled with wholesome content.
Step 3 Background information on company Comments/KCQs Comments on other’s blogsReading through your company background was very interesting. You never really think of the companies that create essential equipment we use in our everyday life and I think you got a company that plays a major role to everyone. You comment on your company and the tone used shows interest. When I’m reading your paragraphs, I can see that you have thought out and elaborated on the information which means you are interested in the work you are doing. Although you point out that you weren’t overly ecstatic when receiving your company, your writing shows that you are taking an interest. Keep up the good work
Step 4 Input company’s financial statements    Your formatting is easy to follow with your spreadsheet and it is good to see you using formulas to calculate the totals. I found no errors when having a quick skim over your figures so great work!
I think the best thing to me when doing my own was when I would do 1 calculation and drag it across to the other years, then it would automatically calculate for me and match my figures. That little feeling of knowing you’ve done it right is great! Good work on your spreadsheet.
Step 5 KCQsGAAP is a KCQ I came across too. Im glad I wasn’t the only one that struggles a bit when reading this. You clearly explain your understanding and relate it to your life experiences. Your explanation on accrual accounting was in depth and easy to follow. Relating back to personal experiences and what you know now shows a deep level of knowledge over a short period of time. It’s crazy we don’t know these terms off the top of our head, but we have experienced them somewhere in our life!
Step 6 Individual feedback with othersI have received feedback from yourself and I appreciate the level of effort that was shown. You took the time to elaborate on your feedback and not only does that help me, it also helps yourself as you can then put your knowledge to the test and see where I can improve. Great work!
Overall ASS#1Overall I would say you have done a great job. You have all the foundations to complete a great assignment but don’t be afraid to ask for help! In todays day and age, unfortunately its all about who you know not what you know! So make those connections and strive for accuracy then you will become an unstoppable force!
